Year 6, Year 1 and Foundation return to school for 2 days from Monday 29 June.

Year 5

Welcome to the LYNX ...

On this webpage you'll find out all about the fun things we've been up to. Keep checking our page for all the latest things we've been doing, photos and updates.

We are all really looking forward to learning about many things. We work hard but try to have fun along the way.

Mr Macgregor is our teacher. Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Phythian. We also have Mr Bingley or Miss Nairn for PE and Mr Chambers for computing on a Thursday morning.

At the moment we do PE on a Thursday and Friday.

Our first topic is Alchemy Island and we will be doing lots of fun and exciting science experiments linked to this to help our learning.

Homework:

Every half term we will have a 'project' to do. This will be linked to our topic, this is where we can get really creative! It's a great opportunity for us to get into out topic before it even starts.

Our regular work includes reading (as detailed below), spellings and times tables practise. We all have logins for Maths and Spelling Shed, which is a great interative resource. In year 5 we expect that these key skills are also being practiced at home as often as possible. New for 2019, we will be sending home a weekly spelling list on a Friday and these words will then be tested the following Friday. There will be assigned games on Spelling Shed to access to support us with our learning, alongside work done in school.

The 10,000 Reads Challenge:

After coming so close last year in Year 4, we are going to see if together we can read 10,000 times! We worked as a class to look at how many opportunities we have to read and worked out if we all read everyday we should be able to get there! There is a sheet in our reading diaries that helps count our reads and explains a bit more.
